Returning to Swimming
15 Jul 2020
Dear members,
I hope you are all keeping well and as the lock down measure ease are starting to return to some level of normality.
The Government has given the go ahead for swimming pools to open from 25th July. This is great news for the Club. Finally we can start returning to training. Dursley Dolphins are governed by Swim England, so the club is following their guidance on returning to swimming.
At the time of writing, we are still waiting for an official date when our first session will start. We may have the option of running some sessions during the summer school holidays. To help us to understand the number of swimmers planning to return to swimming and to help us identify any concerns about returning to training, please could each family complete the Returning to Swimming Survey and email the form to dursley.dolphins@
The club understands some families may not feel comfortable returning to training immediately. We’ll continue to review this situation as further advice and guidance is issued and we hope all swimmers will return as soon as they feel able to.
Pool time
Dursley pool has informed us of a change to our session times on a Friday night. Unfortunately, this is outside of our control and despite discussion with them we have had to accept this change.
The new times will be;
- Junior session 7.15pm to 8.15pm
- Senior session 8.30pm to 10pm
Please note these times may change for a period to accommodate 3 sessions depending on the number of swimmers allowed in each session according to Dursley pool’s guidance when they initially re-open.
We are unable to train at Wycliffe until September at the earliest. The club is currently liaising with other pools to establish any alternative pool time options to offer more sessions during the summer. We’ll confirm any options as they become available but they will not be compulsory.
Before lockdown, if you only trained at Wycliffe you are welcome to swim on a Friday night at Dursley, please let us know through the survey form if you would like to do this.
Returning to training
Swim England require the club to have each swimmer complete a pre-training Covid-19 health screen document before they can return to training. Therefore, if your swimmer(s) intends to resume training, please can you also complete this form and return via email to dursley.dolphins@
Risk assessment
The Committee is still waiting to see Dursley pool’s risk assessment. Once we have this information we can complete the final parts to our club risk assessment and we will then send this out to all members.
Please can everyone log in to their swim club manager account via the Dursley Dolphins website to ensure we hold the correct emergency contact details for you.
Volunteers
Over the next few months we will need volunteers to support the club through Covid-19. If you can spare any time to help either at sessions or on the committee please get in touch.
The committee will be updating you all as soon as we have any further information or changes to share.
Kind regards
The Committee.
