To all members

As COVID restrictions are gradually being relaxed, it is important that we all remain vigilant to try and help control the spread.

The fact that most cases are now found in younger people, and with the spread of new variants, this means that symptoms to look out for have changed slightly. As well as those we knew before:-
raised temperature, new and continuous cough, loss of sense of taste and smell,
we also now have to look out for the following:-
headache, sore throat, runny nose.
These symptoms are very similar to mild conditions, such as summer colds or hay fever, and many infected children and young people will have no symptoms at all. We would, therefore, encourage swimmers to continue taking lateral flow tests twice a week. These are available through schools or directly from the NHS. These tests help more cases to be detected, thus helping to slow the spread of the virus. There are still people for whom this illness can be extremely serious, and we all need to play our part to protect our communities - and to reduce the risk of having to suspend training again!

Should a swimmer have a positive test within 48 hours of attending a session with us, please contact the Club as soon as possible so we can trace all contacts within the Club. When reporting contacts to NHS Track and Trace, please give them the Club e-mail and we will pass on details of relevant swimmers. Rest assured that we will never share the names of any swimmers in that situation with other club members.

Many thanks for your co-operation.
