Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I have to be a good swimmer to join the club?
No. If you are looking to join our Academy then we only ask for enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Other squads (Development, Junior and Senior and Perfromance Squads) will have some criteria, though we do not expect you to be stroke perfect as that’s what our coaching develops.
Q. Can I pay monthly?
Yes, you can. Fees are payable monthly by direct debit by the 7th of the month.

Q. How much does it cost to be a Dolphin?
There is an Annual Membership fee. The cost of this includes Club Membership and Swim England membership fees, along with County and Regional Fees. This fee is due at point of joining and every January thereafter.

  • £60 - 1st swimmer including parent membership for swimmer who are under 18yrs
  • £55 - 2nd or more swimmers in a family
  • £50 - swimmers over 18yrs

The coach will advise which sessions you may attend, with the below fee structure in operation until August 2023. There is no obligation to swim more than once a week, we know some young athletes use swimming to complement their other activites, but we would love it if you did.

Our monthly prices differ depending on which Squad you will be in and how many times you want to swim a week.

  1. Academy Swim School - £29/month
  2. Development Squad -  £29/month  (1 session/week) or £43/month (2 sessions/week)

Q. Do I have to compete in races/galas/open meets?

There is no obligation to compete. We don't hide the fact that we are a competive club, but if you just want to swim for fun or fitness that is fine too. We have an ethos that swimming should be first and foremost fun, we won't make anyone compete if they are not comfortable doing so.

Those who want to race there will be lots of opportunity!
